Welcome to the EGI-ACE webODV

webODV provides online Ocean Data View (ODV, https://odv.awi.de) services like the extraction, analysis, exploration and visualization of oceanographic and other environmental data. webODV is developed by Dr. Sebastian Mieruch-Schnülle and Prof. Dr. Reiner Schlitzer at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The EGI-ACE webODV service provides access to large collections of marine temperature and salinity profile data covering the global ocean. These datasets come from two main sources: (1) the distributed, pan-European marine data network SeaDataNet (https://www.seadatanet.org/; data downloaded from https://files.seadatanet.org/aggregated_datasets/), and (2) the international Argo program that is collecting data from thousands of autonomous, free drifting floats (http://www.argo.net/; data downloaded from ftp://ftp.ifremer.fr/ifremer/argo/geo/ on Feb 24 2022). In both cases, the quality of the data was checked using extensive automatic and manual inspection and flagging procedures. The quality flags associated with the actual data values enable easy filtering out of bad data and the selection of validated good data for visualization and scientific analysis.
